The 2018 Bikini Bottom Civil War is an event mentioned in the series No Malarkey in Bikini Bottom.
It started when Kelpy G, then a popular musician, called for a campaign to drive "political snakes" out of Bikini Bottom. While it was initially successful, and even supported by a majority of the population, it ended when he lost that support.
President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama supported it, though their exact involvement is unclear.
Many individuals who were persecuted called for a war crimes investigation. Kelpy G initially denied committing them, but by 2020 proudly boasted of them. He entered mainstream Bikini Bottom politics, and was a candidate in the 2020 Bikini Bottom Democratic presidential primaries. His support was mainly from squids who were on his side during the war, though some, like Squidward Tentacles, later denounced him.
It was followed by another civil war just two years later.
