The 2020–21 POBA season is the 23nd season of the Pacific Ocean Basketball Association (POBA). The regular season will begin on July 3, 2020. The Bikini Bottom Bulldogs are defending champions after besting the Chicago Giants, 4-3.
Pre-Season
League Changes
- March 17, 2020: League begins talks on COVID-19 response and contingency plan for the upcoming season.
- March 24, 2020: The entire Bikini Bottom Bulldogs lineup were waived following mutual agreements.
- April 2, 2020: The Bikini Bottom Bulldogs sign former coach from 1995 to 2003 Paul Miner as their new head coach, following the departure of Kobe Bryant.
- May 30, 2020: POBA parts ways with Basketball TV following the end of contract.
- June 6, 2020: POBA signs multi-year agreements giving broadcast rights to Box Productions Network, Tealevision, Bingo!, UltraFuse, Jasbre TV International, and STV following end of contract with BTV.
- June 6, 2020: The Unknowns were renamed the Rock Bottom Raiders, though not a relocation.
- June 7, 2020: POBA signs multi-year broadcasting partnership with Banana Sports for Oceania.
- June 7, 2020: The Last Generation Legends relocated to Philadelphia and were renamed the Philadelphia Jewels.
- June 7, 2020: The Harlem Globetrotters relocated to Atlanta and were renamed the Atlanta Hawks.
- June 7, 2020: The Barrier Reef Barnacles relocated and were renamed the High Flying Hooplas.
- June 7, 2020: The Seattle Swordfish relocated to New England and were renamed the New England Seagulls.
- June 7, 2020: The Daisy Town Dandelions relocated to Muncie and were renamed the Lasaga Launchers.
- June 7, 2020: The Ceba Elites relocated to Manila and were renamed the Manila Eagles.

Pre-Season
To test the upcoming season, the league ran a pre-season tournament from June 22 to 25 which included 5 games from 10 participating teams. They were all streamed live via YouTube along with the local broadcasts.

Broadcast Rights
Following the end of BTV's multi-year contract with the POBA, new broadcast rights were given to worldwide broadcast and distribution of games along with the existing deal with LTV Sports.
