Bernard Sanders is a Bikini Bottom politician who served as B.B. Senator from Vermont from 2007 to 2020. He was a candidate in the 2020 and 2016 Democratic presidential primaries, losing in both campaigns.
In "What Happened", it was revealed that he had actually won both the 2016 Democratic presidential primary as well as the 2016 Bikini Bottom presidential election. However, during his second term, Jim R'Onion and Travis Pineapple traveled back in time and committed electoral fraud during the 2016 primaries, causing his presidency to be prevented and Hillary Clinton to become the Democratic nominee instead.
He was killed and ascended to Heaven in Election Night in the Shallow Seas: Battle for the Soul of the Nation due to a nuclear explosion triggered by Mr. Pineapple.
