Dirty Minds was the second studio album by The Infection's side-project band World of Fire. This was the first album to use the trademark strawberry logo.

Writing[]

Yolandi and Spongebob took much of their inspiration from modern garage rock artists, such as "Ty Segall" and "Thee Oh Sees" and combined them with hints of prog rock. This is the longest album ever worked on by Sandy to date.

The writing process of the album began when Spongebob started writing demented, odd versions of his own personal experiences. Yolandi dropped in on this and decided to make a full album out of it.

Recording[]

The recording started on April 9th, 2006 and ended in June of that year. "The recording process was mainly everyone dicking about, coming up with ideas on the spot. Usually recreating our personal experiences in the most completely disgusting, surreal and messed up ways we could think of, It was a laugh" Yolandi said in an interview.nThe album was mixed by Michael Senior.

Release[]

Dirty Minds was delayed for unknown reasons, the original release date was scheduled to be a November 2006 release. The album was released on July 27th, 2007. It alienated Infection fans.

Reception and Controversy[]

The album was met with positive reviews by critics, upon release, praising its originality but not really touching up on the album's lyrics, because they didn't want to offend anyone.

Controversy brewed when there was a recorded case of someone being too distracted by the album driving off of a motorway. The album was quickly pulled from stores but reissued when the press realized that it was just one incident. More controversy brewed when there were cases of Spongebob screaming throughout the recording and the media accused Yolandi of manipulating a mentally ill person, despite the fact that Spongebob had never been diagnosed or had a mental illness. Yolandi debunked this in an interview.
